The Uganda UK Health Alliance (UUKHA) recently took part in the momentous inception event for the Global Capacity Building Programme (GCP) in Uganda, an initiative orchestrated by the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET) with financial backing from the National Health Service (NHS) England. This pioneering program seeks to foster global learning opportunities and offer specialized international development expertise to bolster healthcare capacity not only in Uganda but also across borders.
The GCP, in partnership with THET, is poised to revolutionize healthcare systems in Uganda, Zambia, and South Africa. In Uganda alone, eight grants have been allocated to various health partnerships, spanning durations of 9 to 18 months. These grants will underpin a diverse array of projects geared towards fortifying healthcare delivery, capacity enhancement, and sustainable development.
UUKHA’s contingent, spearheaded by the Country Director, was privileged to attend the inaugural inception event for the GCP in Uganda. Held at the prestigious Fairway Hotel in Kampala, this gathering convened national stakeholders, healthcare practitioners, and implementing partners to ceremoniously unveil the GCP’s Ugandan chapter.
The event served as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to acquaint themselves with the GCP’s objectives and scope, alongside gaining insights into the forthcoming projects. It facilitated knowledge exchange, networking, and collaborative endeavors among healthcare professionals and organizations dedicated to uplifting healthcare standards in Uganda.
Amidst the proceedings, UUKHA had the esteemed opportunity to articulate its vision and unwavering commitment to bolstering healthcare capacity in Uganda through collaborative alliances. Emphasizing the pivotal role of sustainable development, shared learning, and synergistic partnerships, our team underscored the collective endeavor to fortify health systems and enhance access to quality healthcare services.
The inception event marked the advent of a thrilling journey towards realizing the GCP’s objectives in Uganda. UUKHA is enthralled to be an integral part of this transformative initiative and eagerly anticipates contributing to its triumph. We pledge to work hand in hand with our partners and stakeholders to execute impactful projects that will engender enduring change in communities across Uganda.
As we embark on this transformative odyssey, we extend an open invitation to individuals, organizations, and stakeholders to unite with us in our quest to fortify healthcare capacity and ameliorate health outcomes in Uganda.
